About Me
Professional Experience and Philosophy
Having lived in three distinctly different areas so far in my career, it is clear how important engaging educational opportunities are for learners of all ages, regardless of locale. Teaching in the Memphis and Nashville areas provided lots of opportunities to grow professionally and learn that every person is unique in their pursuit of knowledge. While writing curriculum for an educational company in Pittsburg, KS that used a hands-on approach for STEM education, I learned that students all over the world are more engaged when they are allowed the freedom to explore subjects while actively participating in meaningful activities. Interdisciplinary projects with an emphasis on real-world solutions will be used on a regular basis in my classroom.
Personal Information
My parents and older brother still live in the Memphis area while my younger brother is in the Houston area. My daughter and her husband live in Illinois. My life friends are located around the country and I enjoy visiting them when time allows. Going to the University of Memphis (it was Memphis State University when I attended) for both graduate and undergraduate degrees has made me a lifetime Tigers fan and I am true blue. Most of my hobbies center around music and recreation. Sometimes the two will mix like a nice hike that inspires a cheesy love song which will be shared with friends through YouTube.
